We would like to relocate the sculpture and install it at 2555 m street (square and lot # 0013 0043) which is the address of the permanent mission of the state of qatar in the unites states. It symbolizes the universal language of national heritage, as represented by the candy in the shape of the countrys flag. It is also signifies the importance of culture and art as it expresses national identity through a new medium. This sculpture is a unique representation of qatars flag. Instead of being shaped like a regular flag, here the national flag is shaped like a candy wrapper. This unique design was conceptualized and created by french artist laurence jenkell. It was first displayed at the embassy of qatar in paris, france and we would like it to now be displayed here at the embassy of qatar in washington dc. The sculpture would be placed outside of the embassy walls but within the gates, near the corner of m and 26th street. It would not interfere with pedestrian right away or the elements. Yes it is technically in an area designated public space but as you will see it is completely within the embassy premises.
