SCORE 56 I would like to finish off around 9 square feet of our basement. We will be adding a living room, bedroom, and bathroom. We will be using 8 foot walls for a small portion of the living room and the entire bath. The rest of the basement will have 9 foot walls. We will be using wood studs. We will be using sheetrock for the ceiling as well. The electrical will be minimal (only outlets and switches) my father-in-law will be assisting. He has been an electrician for years. We currently have one smoke detector hardwired and will be adding two more, one in the living another in the bedroom and one in the utility area (it will be unfinished). I will also be adding in a vent/light in the bath. We have a walkout basement, so our windows will meet code for a basement bedroom. A moisture barrier will be placed between the studs and wall. The bedroom will be approximately 12 x 14 and the bath will be 5 x 8. The rest will be the living room. Carpet will be the flooring in both the bedroom and the l Permit type: Residential basement finish | Permit status: Issued | Permit id: Bld-13-14108 | |||||
